We are licensed to treat ticks and can help you control the spread of them, primarily outdoors. We treat monthly (3-4 weeks) to control the population (not total eradication) around your:
- exterior living spaces
- foliage
- shaded areas
- under decks
- around patios
You will often see a decrease within one service in the matter of a few weeks, but sometimes it can take 2 services, depending on the level of infestation. Most customers notice a night and day difference, but there will never be zero ticks in your yard. Treatments must be applied on a monthly basis to be effective.
If you have a tick problem inside your home, we have indoor nontoxic pesticides that we can spray, but in all the years of providing pest control, we have not run into a problem with ticks in the home.

Understanding Ticks and Pets
The Stages of Tick Infestation in Ohio
Stage 1: Questing
Ticks have a life cycle that consists of several stages, and it all begins with the quest for a blood meal. In this stage, ticks actively seek a suitable host. They do not fly or jump; instead, they rely on their incredible sensory organs to detect vibrations, body heat, and the carbon dioxide exhaled by animals, including humans. Questing ticks perch on the tips of grasses, shrubs, or leaf litter, with their legs outstretched, patiently waiting for a passing host to latch onto.
Stage 2: Attachment
Once a host brushes against the questing tick, it immediately grasps onto the host’s skin. Ticks prefer warm and moist areas such as the armpits, groin, scalp, or behind the ears. They use their specialized mouthparts to pierce the skin and begin feeding on the host’s blood. At this stage, the tick is in its nymph or adult stage, and it will remain attached for several days, slowly engorging itself.
Stage 3: Feeding and Engorgement
As the tick feeds, it injects a mixture of saliva into the host’s bloodstream to prevent blood clotting and suppress the host’s immune response. If the tick is infected with any disease-causing pathogens, such as Lyme disease or Rocky Mountain spotted fever, they may be transmitted to the host during this stage. The tick will continue to feed until it becomes engorged with blood, expanding several times in size.

FAQs about Ticks and Tick Pest Control
Ticks are a common concern for pet owners, as they can pose serious health risks to our furry friends. Understanding where ticks live can help you take preventive measures to protect your pets. Here are some of the most common places ticks are found:
Wooded Areas
Ticks thrive in wooded and forested areas where they can easily find hosts like deer, mice, and your pets. When dogs or cats roam through these areas, they can pick up ticks that latch onto their fur.
Tall Grass and Brush
Tall grasses and brushy areas are ideal habitats for ticks. Pets exploring these areas are at risk of ticks attaching to their fur as they brush past.
Leaf Litter and Ground Cover
Ticks often hide in leaf litter and ground cover, which provide shelter and humidity. Pets digging or playing in these areas can unknowingly bring ticks into your home.
Animal Habitats
Areas frequented by wildlife, such as deer paths, rodent burrows, and bird nests, are hotspots for ticks. Pets that roam in these areas can pick up ticks and transport them back to your home.
Gardens and Landscaped Areas
Ticks can be found in well-maintained gardens and landscaped yards, especially in dense shrubs and ground cover plants. Pets wandering through these areas are at risk of tick exposure.
Outdoor Structures
Ticks can also be found near outdoor structures like sheds, woodpiles, and stone walls, where they seek shelter and wait for a passing host, including your pets.
